Why rejection hurts: ball throwing game, virtual game, acc activation- social pain and the emotional appraisal activated the idea of social rejection, greater social pain associated with greater activation, greater social support associated with lower levels of activation. Fear avoidance model- how you react to the pain you experiencing will influence the effect. If they do not react with fear to the pain: they will confronting the pain, remain active, this will lead to recovery. If they react with catastrophizing and fear: this will lead to hypervigilance, and avoiding activities/deconditioning, this will not lead to recovery. 1-10; no pain => worst pain possible: some behavioural (did not affect => forced to return to bed, faces (for those with language/communication difficulties, children), pictures for children or people with language difficulty. Mcgill questionnaire: words to describe your pain, beck depression inventory scale- Impact of cd- heart disease, cancer, stroke: estimated that a lot of the expenditures are towards cd.
