Behavioural inhibition system - activated by brainstem or cortex - you become aware of surroundings and consciously scan. Involes septal hippocampal system and frontal cortex freeze , experience anxiety, apprehensively evaluate situation. People with panic disorder feel fear but the fear is a false alarm bcz theres no immediate threat or harm avoidance /escape tendency. Fight or flight system - don"t have time to think you just react - survival mode. Psychological disorders- pervasive and persistent symptoms of anxiety/fear. Sometimes if you aviod a situation- decide not to do it or not to go you can begin to feel better immediately. There is alot of overlap between the symptoms of different anxiety disorders - look the same. Etiological factors also similar in different disorders - causal factors.
