PSYC 2510 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Observational Learning, Reinforcement, Time
Document Summary
Learning - relatively durable change in immediate, potential behavior or knowledge that is due to. Modes of learning: classical conditioning, pavlov, watson, operant/instrumental conditioning, skinner, social learning theory, bandura. Pavlov: reflex - instinctive automatic response to stimulus (ex. salivation at sight of food) Ucs - unconditioned stimulus (stimulus causing reflexive response) Ucr - unconditioned response (automatic response to ucs) Cs - conditioned stimulus (neutral stimulus that will trigger cr) Cr - conditioned response (response to cs) Learning occurs when stimulus regularly paired w/ ucs, becomes a cs that elicits cr. Before conditioning (teaching a dog to salivate when bell rings) Cs (bell) trying to create reflex of salivation. Ucs (food) ucr (salivation) + cs (bell) Phobia - intense irrational fear leading person to avoid feared object, activity, situation. Watson & rayner (1920), little baby albert. Added cs (white rat) leading to cr (fear) Counterconditioning - pairing conditioned stimulus w/ stimulus that elicits incompatible response.
