Canada has a lower gun rate than the united states. Social psychologist says that one of the ways people can be aggressive is the presence of guns - the weapons effect. Bus paradigm: it allows you to punish someone for failure on a task. Aggression defined as dependent variable: giving electric shocks. Violence in the media begets violence in the real world. Something that you"re doing that you know that the other person will no enjoy. Teacher is supposed to teach something to the learner and the learner is supposed to learn. Teacher (real participant) is supposed to punish the learner for mistakes. Teacher is supposed to freely choose the level of punishment. Buss believes that this is a good level of aggression because you just have to give them a 1. If you chose anything close to that, that means you"re being aggressive. Subject doesn"t know that their behaviour is being studied.
