The desirable or favourable characterisics of an astronaut include; high level of task performance, posiive interpersonal orientaion and achievement moivaion and low levels of hosility, aggressiveness and compeiiveness. Being opimisic: person has a tendency to look at the bright side of things, be hopeful, cheerful, and enthusiasic. Disinciveness is also central to the concept of personality. The concept of personality is used to explain 1) the stability in a person"s behaviour over ime and across situaions (consistency) 2) the behavioural diferences among people reacing to the same situaion (disinciveness). Personality: refers to an individual"s unique constellaion of consistent behavioural traits. Personality traits: is a durable disposiion to behave in paricular way in a variety of situaions. Adjecives such as dependable describe disposiions that represent personality traits. Fundamental traits determine more supericial traits, restless > excitability.
