Causes dilation of pupils, increased heart rate/breathing, increase in blood sugar, drop in. Can lead to withdrawal symptoms if used daily. Signals central nervous system to release a flood of neurotransmitters. Produces challenging acute craving and withdrawal symptoms that contribute to relapse after attempts to quit use. Blocks reuptake and thus increase levels at the synapse of dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine. Effect on consciousness: euphoria at least for 45 minutes.
