Document Summary

Wrinkled because it creates more surface area for the neurons. Inner white stuff axons that link parts of the brain. Involved in speaking, muscle movements, making plans and judgment. Located close to the ears: auditory processing areas. Output: motor cortex (left hemisphere controls the right side of your body: axons receive motor info from the cortex. Input: sensory cortex (left hemisphere receives input from the right side of your body: axons send sensory info to the cortex. More complex animals have more cortical space devoted to integrating/associating information. Humans sensory info is larger than a rat, but proportionally to how much nerve processing we have, we don"t spend a lot of time sensing. Frontal lobes are connected by age 25. Active in executive functions such as judgement, processing new info, planning and inhibition of impulses. Involves complex activities which require communication among association areas across the brain such as: memory language, attention, meditation and spirituality consciousness.
