Of all the know therapies, they can all boil down to three categories. Engage in complex verbal interaction; you think that they"re having a conversation. A therapist is trained on being able to make the client comfortable in exploring their issues. Help the patient gain insight, an understanding of what is going on with them. Once able to understand it, a solution can be generated. Done with the guide of the therapist. Classical, operant conditioning to change a particular behavior. Not interested in the unconscious or your feelings, but for treating the symptom. Try to change the patient"s biological functioning. Can only be administered by physicians or psychiatrist. There are some therapies that do not fit into the categories, but these are the general.
