Document Summary
Todays agenda: the memory system, long term memory. For some things, we have a lot of vivid memory don"t have to put a lot of effort to remember theres more ease; on exams, however its harder to remember/recall. Initially you have information registered my your sense: sensory memory involves encoding. Where info is stored in relatively permanent form. 2 memory systems: declarative (explicit) (ex asking student id, non-declarative procedural (implicit) (ex asking about yesterday"s day) Ex your name, attending university, plot line of tv shows, etc. Ex divided attention, or not stable emotionally: decay. Happens to all memory vividness with all memories is lost overtime fades with time: retrieval failure. One type of memory with something interfering (two types of interference) 2 types: retroactive interference (old memories suffer) Old memories are damaged with the new memories coming in. Ex after psych class when you go to next class you forget pysc class: proactive interference (new memory suffers)
