Judges are well paid and hopefully not open to bribery. In usa, president nominates the judges, but have to be approved. Integrated because they want to facilitate the review of cases. Usa has dual court system: called dual because federal level has own system of appointing judges. Established in 1875 by the dominion act as a general court of appeal for canada. Just a few years after the bna act: general not highest court of appeal. Jcpc was highest court of appeal in canada until 1949: did what supreme court of canada does today. Highest court in canada, meaning that all decisions are binding on all courts below. Only the executive and legislative branches of government can enact formal constitutional amendments, so judiciary cannot intervene or initiate any modification of the constitution. Judiciary there to resolve conflict involved in applying the constitution.
