Lecture #6: aristotle"s politics: unlike plato and socrates, who were athenian citizens, aristotle was a resident alien. Student of plato for over 20 years, he was different in a lot of ways. Very straight forwards: book 2: an examination of the poleis, is there an ideal poleis (model poleis: sparta, He liked to observe concrete evidence, historical examples. He based his examples on historical truths and facts: aristotle"s political theory owes to his doctrine of nature, doctrine of nature: aristotle believes that the world is made of matter and form.
