Document Summary
Human nature, louis gersner former ceo ibm: nobody likes change, viewed commonly by lower ppl not upper management: because ppl don"t like change they have no voice in. Rather the nature of the change is what ppl don"t like. Org. are systems that are designed not to change organizational inertia : better to reduce forces that bak change than increase the forces of change, forces for stability (blocking change) Unanticipated consequences: like strategic design changes affect the political and cultural system, in ways not expected: will always be one, what u can do: Think abt what some anticipated ones could be. Be prepared to recognize it and directly address it. Learning new roles, but can use upper lower and historic employees to learn their new role. Putting allies into key positions, in charge of sub-units does not help change, because they resits anyone who threatens their power.
