Fear of bodily harm: be careful with words (taking blood, they think all of their blood) Requires truthfulness: let them know it will be uncomfortable but make it as less painful as possible, analgesia, oral, topical. Loss of routine, peer support: teachers at school so they keep up with their education. Concern with being different: in regards with education, give more guidance about concerns. Loss of control: allowing them to participate. Etiology and characteristics: infectious agents, location, age, size, seasonal variations. Signs and symptoms: fever, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, anorexia. Nursing care & priorities: pain management, keeping the airway clear/open/patent. 3: assess respiratory effort, oxygenation, temperature, activity, comfort, proper safety precautions, hydration, rest, nutrition, comfort, suctioning as necessary, assessments, vitals.
