Technological knowledge has an indirect source of contact with scientific knowledge traditions. Hindsigh indicated that direct influence of science on technology was very small. Engineers do not rely on science but is used when needed; not denied. Edwin layton stated that technological knowledge is devalued versus scientific knowledge technologies not being seen to depend on basic science. Engineers work with their own theories and inventions following knowledge traditions. Knowledge traditions is what is gained around one"s surroundings and material substances. Knowledge tradition is tacit in some areas where knowledge is not completely based on research but spread person to person; form of socializing.
