Nats 1775 unit 17: communications technologies part iv; internet management and control. Cyber privacy: idea of how much control one has over their own personal information in the private sphere. Control of info extends to a number of different areas. Social engineering: ways that people manipulate/deceive you so that you give out your personal information. Farming: doesn"t often involve a general email but fraudulent websites. You get an email which has a link. Spear fishing: receiving email containing your name and personal information you think only your friends and family know, gives you sense of confidence about who is sending that email to you. Spear fishing works so well because so much of these supposedly private information is available on social network sites. In the real world: if you go to a lake or pond, you target one fish and set your line for that specific fish. Social engineering practices targets, detecting s. e. p, and cookies.
