Society around the 1500s tended to view nature as a living organism. Induction: process of gathering bits and pieces of information and coming up with general theories; bottom up approach of learning. Bottom people would be fact gatherers (spend all time gathering examples and facts) Middle people would be experimenters (use the examples and facts to conduct experiments and to reach a conclusion) Top people would have few people with a lot of power (take the facts and experiments and conclusions and come up with the theories) Sailors lost at sea ended up in island. Started to walk around and visit people. Surprised because the town appeared to be perfect: no one was hungry, everyone seemed content and had a purpose to serve. Sailors who came from another place didn"t know how this was the case. Sailors asked leaders how they created this society. Leaders said that society was based on bacons theories.
