Hobbyists during this time were used to dealing with large-scale computers. During the 1970s, there were very few industries that used computers on a regular basis including corporations and governments. They were interested in advancing the hardware and technology. They also saw computers as instruments of social change; to make the world a better place. If more people could access computer technology, it could end/eradicate inequality, poverty, gender discrimination, racial discrimination.
