Proposed astronomical records (there are stars and moon) in caves by micheal rappengleuk. 1970: alexander marshack published interpretation of markings on bone as representing phases of moon. Bones have hatches on them for basically counting and marking the moon- that"s how they observed the moon. Moon reflects light from the sun: so when moon is in between earth and sun, we don"t see the moon light because the sun isn"t reflecting the light to the side where we can see it. When it"s on the other side of the earth: moon-earth-sun: then we can see it because the sun light is hitting the moon. Neolithic era: 7000 (1st farming societies in greece) to about 1700 bce (beginning of bronze age) Small scale family based communities (changed from hunter/gathers to this) Shift in mythology- so instead of being sky based, it is earth based (earth goddess) Start burying the dead (evidence in scotland of tombs)
