Relates to our theme of management and control. One particular issue with privacy is: control. Online transactions (what information you are disclosing). How your information you are sharing is shared through a party. They are selling it to other companies (profitable). What kinds of mechanisms are online? (website layout) play a role of how much information you give, company makes sure layout is good. Own philosophy- how comfortable are you giving your information to other people. Future of cyber privacy- privacy issues (everyday interactions with websites) and exploration of social media: major issue- surveillance, stalking, and tracking without people knowing it. General issues with online privacy: 1) manipulating individuals to obtain information through (social engineering), which is the process of individual being deceived by a group of people to obtain private/confidential data for illegal purposes. Examples: phishing (emails), pharming (websites), and vishing (voip).
