Membranes stretch around and engulf pathogens killing them. Neutrophils are the most abundant type of wbc nuclei consist of 2-5 lobes. Non-activated neutrophils in the circulation is about 5 days. Upon activation, they migrate into tissues, where they survive for 1 2 days. At beginning of inflammation migrate towards site of inflammation in tissues.
