One of the key figures in promoting the early interest in life on mars was percival. Lowell who spent a great deal of time and money to observe what he thought was a network of canals on mars. Mars- mythology: part of the problem with the search on mars is separating the mythology for the scientific study. Mars as an abode of extraterrestrials has been part of our popular culture since the early twentieth century. Works like war of the worlds" and edgar rice burroughs barsoom" have strongly influenced the public perception of mars. People have a particular perception of mars because of books and movies. Through the telescope: very noticeable about mars it its surface colour.
