MGMT 1000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Solar Lamp, Social Entrepreneurship, Epub
Document Summary
Create a business to support employees and themselves. Social entrepreneur: someone who has an innovative idea, has skill and commitment. Work with gov"t, business, stakeholders, and communities. No effective sponsor or client with a specific end need. No real interest or commitment from the outset project got approved by default and never had a real champion who cared enough to make it happen. Sponsor loses interest because: other priorities or business assumptions change-> reduces the importance of the project, and project becomes less attractive since it encounters resistance from key players in the organization->complication->creates a distance. Sponsor moves out and is not replaced. No way of creating success because no one will care -> project=fail. To avoid/overcome the problems: make sure that you have a strong sponsor who is passionate about the project, is accountable for implementation of the final results and has the power to make things happen.
