Participants: following a 3 step participation criteria 8 elite performers (3 females and 5 males) from national sports institute were invited to participate in this study. Discussion: the study examined the influence of 4 advanced psychological aspects on the intensity and direction of precompetitive anxiety symptoms and where applicable how these phenomena occur. Only 2 influenced intensity of cognitive symptoms: overlearning of skills which lowered performance related cognitive symptoms and cognitive restructuring which transformed irrational concerns into more adaptive thoughts.
