Caused by deposition of cholesterol in lining of blood vessel wall. Total cholesterol = ldl + hdl (bad) (good) Cholesterol + triglycerides (tg) are carried inside lipoproteins. Tg can also be carried free in the blood by albumin (protein carrier) Sweating or cold, clammy skin: nausea and vomiting. Shortness of breath: dizziness, fainting, or loss of consciousness. Women are less likely to believe they are having a heart attack and delay seeking medical attention. What do the doctors do: ekg or ecg (electrocardiogram, stress test, angiography. Stress tests: exercise or medicine is given to make your heart work hard and beat fast while the doctor measures blood pressure and ekg, when your heart is working hard, it needs more blood and oxygen.
