KINE 1020 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Smooth Muscle Tissue, Cardiac Muscle, Myofibril
Document Summary
*structure determines function (for anatomy)(prof says it alot)* Voluntary (choose when contracts) except reflect input by balance and pain. Locomotion, need for moving and breathing (assist diaphragm) Postural support, isometric contraction to stabilize position like standing. Contraction products heat, if cold brain cause muscle to contract and shivering for heat production involuntary. Muscle fibres are allows parallel to each other: cardiac muscle. Interconnected, single electrical system disprise electricity to all fibres since they all interconnected. Not electrical interconnected like heart and not parallel structures either like skeletal muscles. Increase blood pressure contract artery, relaxation artery open up. Smooth muscle in artery to regulate blood pressure. All muscles are connected to bones through tendons, fibres merge with strands of calogen (very strong tendons) Muscle has tears of bundles thin skin of connective tissue. Epimysium- tough outer layer of calogen covers the muscle itself. Next layer -fasciculus- composed of muscle fibres bundled together called fascicule each have connective tissue layer.
