Chapter 3 complementary and alternative medicine (cam) Traditional modern medicine focuses on the treatments of signs and symptoms of dieses using evidence-based therapies. Complementary and alternative medicine is the group of divers medical and health care systems, practices and products that are not generally considered part of conventional medicine. Cam is often divided into the broad categories of natural products, mind and body medicine and manipulative and body based practices. Are dietary supplements that are non-vitamins, non-material, probiotics, herbal and botanical medicines. Therapies that promote visualization and imagery for willing away cancer or disease, believing that the mind and body are connected in a very real and physical way. This includes chiropractic medicine and massage therapy which involve physical manipulation of the body to restore health. Little to no evidence to support the utility of some of these products and therapies, it does not mean that they do not work; most individuals rely on.
