As an effort to be more diverse and to show more acceptance where a player on each team to be a leader on diversity, equality. Learned that boys and girls actually have a lot more in common than what people say. Things have changed: women were not supposed to be out of the home not long ago. Sports are sites for socialization experiences rather than causes of specific socialization outcomes: that means that not everyone will be socializing the same way, eg. Socialization: process in which we learn value, who we are, what is important or not: sports, media, school, education, not a one way process it is a response to certain teaches. Social relations + cultural context = meaning and importance.
