HUMA 1825 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Racism, Saini
Document Summary
Citizenship: the status of a person recognized under the custom or law as being a member of a country. A person may have multiple citizenships and a person who does not have citizenship of any state is said to be stateless. It is the process of being such a member. It is how we make society work, together. Citizenship education gives people the knowledge and skills to understand, challenge and engage with the main pillars of our democracy: politics, the economy and the law. Urban space: refers to several urban areas and their related multicentric municipalities forming a whole in a single stretch. In the multicentric urban space, the urban areas are either adjoining or linked together by multicentric municipalities. Cultural racism structures public constructions of both racialized childhood and racialized citizenship.
