Paris, a trojan prince had fallen in love with helen and stole her right from menelaus. This had caused a ten-year war between argon and troy. Reputation is what drove agamemnon to seek revenge against troy. During ancient athens, reputation was very important as it defined one"s future and who they were in society. By menelaus having his wife stolen from him, this put a huge stamp of ignominy not only to his reputation but to his family"s name as well. As the king fights to keep his city on top and to keep them safe, the argos people feel great pride in him. After everyone hears about the victory that argos has taken over troy, the entire city was full of joy as they had won the ten-year war.
