Roman culture was very agonistic (culture of honour, rivalry is normal) like athenic culture. Another myth in rome is that romulus and remus. Two brothers dispute between which will be the centre of the town, so romulus kills remus. These people were kidnapped and abducted woman to be raped who then become the ancestral mothers of roman people. Power sharing was always a problem and led to blood shed. Possible for humans to have honour that they become godlike. Rome starts with warriors that believed war made them noble, and their goal was to conquer the world. In rome, war was deemed as honourable, as well as good speeches. If you understood the law, destroyed your enemies, eliminate your friends debt, had an educated wife, to imitate your ancestors, to be sophisticated, was all dishonourable.
