Background: legal moralism, wanted a universal freedom of expression. Anybody who is against the movement(traitors), were killed. Who guards the guardians, the people who are leading the revolution. French revolution was called the bourgeoisie, were the capitalism, merchant class; Rise of this class to power in the world, creating a capitalist society. Economics: when people stopped paying tribute tto the roman empire, roman law stopped being used. (you do something for me, ill do something for you) Legal tools went into decline with feudal society. Local lords, who were put in power by the military. Manorialism bourgeoisie the lord is supposed to protect the people. In exchange for protection, give the lord royalty, and goods for their service. (mobsterism) tied to lands, and they were merchants. These were the original bourgeoisie class, and encountered problems when entering different territories, and had to pay tariffs.
