Based on historical/hero to make exaggeration of actual events (to the extent of becoming the whole of the story) This type of story is mostly in imagination not literation. It is one of the american folk literature. Culture hero, cultural value of the society. Able to accomplish , all have their own legend. Legend include a lot more true, form of entertainment. Social safety vow (function) : prevent the exposing in a unhealthy/unsafety way in the society. Father tells the same tall tale many times over the years, about he was catching an enormous uncatchable fish. In the film, will believes edward has never been honest with him because edward creates extravagant myths about his past to hide himself, using storytelling as an avoidance mechanism. In the film, it is the father"s voice initially, then switch to william"s voice. Those two voices come together as one (father + son)
