29 views7 pages

Document Summary

Define- to be biased is to have an inclination or prejudice for or against something. How do your belief systems connect to your own biases. Think of something you are very passionate about, and what your beliefs are, and how your biases play a role. No tabula rasa- clean slate - we cannot erase our bias. Biases aren"t bad, what we do with them could be positive or negative. We might not know we have our biases, and sometimes we would know and can play a huge role. An illegitimate basis can negatively influence how we support our claims and our ability to listen to others" views. Typically occurs when dealing with matters of high importance to an individual. An arguer who makes or believe an argument because he or she has something to gain - and not because the argument has strong rationale - may have vested interest.
