We will learn today 800 years of history. It was written in a completely different time. It is written in latin and written by an individual person and we can think of his life as about. 50 60 about end of 1st century bce and beginning of first century ce. Not one of homeric epics which are corrected oral songs told and retold by singers across a huge area over hundreds of years. Ovid is different, we have here one guy he wrote a long poem, retelling some of the famous greatest myths. Recall that the homeric texts had kind of a complicated historical portrait. Within the homeric texts, we saw a complicated historical blend of different times and places some are fantasies. Mix of historical events possibly from bronze place but firmly places in silver age or dark age society.
