Oracle is giving us truth, truth is difficult to discover, difficult to interpret for the humans. The idea is you must try to know yourself but there"s something things you can"t bear. When we met oedipus, he was a confident tyrant of thebes, perfectly in control, the benevolent leader. In this case, the pollution flowered darkly into this plague, this causing the city to die, women become barren and animals die. We need to find out what is the source of the miasma, and greek ritual had sort of this purification, they do end the miasma.
