Document Summary

Cross cultural training and the impact on expatriate self-efficacy. Companies are subjected to encounter a difficult process to select and train employees for overseas assignments, frequently locating a greater focus on technical competence instead of components influencing a person"s motivation and ability. One such issue, often overlooked, in both the selection and training of expatriates, is individual self-efficacy. Self-efficacy has been well-defined as the type of assurance that individuals have in their ability to achieve tasks (osman-gani & rockstuhl, 2009, p. 279). High self-efficacy has also been discovered to be substantially positively correlated to expatriate performance in international assignments (bhatti, battour & ismail 2013, p. 709). It can be challenging and stressful for most individuals to relocate to an unfamiliar country. The stress of taking on a new job, learning a new language, welcoming a new culture and the effect on an expatriate"s family are all situations that make it difficult to become accustomed to the new environment.
