In my view employers need to monitor employees to make sure that their employees are not abusing their privileges (internet use) even if the employee"s performance is generally good. In addition to do such a thing, the firm needs to respect employee"s privacy, observe fairness in discipline and dismissal, do the treatment fairly in layoffs and downsizing, and alternative dispute in resolution way. On the other hand, the firm needs a strategy to treat in fairness across all employees, it is important that all are monitored in a same time. The employer can do random checking on everyone in this way no one will be aware of whom or when one"s internet is checked. Mangers can do this random checking by comparing employees" performance too. The one with high performance may need less checking in time, while for those employees with low performance and lack of qualifications employers can do the checking more often.
