Document Summary

Religion is on the one hand a foundation of human rights, in terms of its presets, ethical and moral roots, but there is a conflict between the two. In some cases, religions impede on human rights. There is this difficult relationship between religion and human rights. Generally, religions have tended towards authoritarianism, especially when they become state- instituted and integrated with state institutions, religions have tended to think of the preservation of order in authoritythey intended to limit things such as free expression. These conflicts are not easily lost over nor are they easy to overcome. Christianity comes from an older tradition, which is related to islam and christianity. These 3 faiths provide solid grounding in terms of their traditions, moral, and ethical insights, into the origins of human rights. In many ways, the human rights tradition, the liberal tradition, builds upon, in a sense, a contrast to religion.
