Since freud was born during this victorian era and his ideas on sexuality were very risky, many people thought he was a pervert and protested his talks. Sexuality was underground during that time period, it was a period where people were in denial of sexual urges and understanding of themselves. Freud brought the attention saying that biologically sexuality is real, and no matter how religious you are you will still have sexual urges.
