Regional authorities- set up by provincial gov to cover certain geographical area. Provincial governments have devolved power to regional health authorities (rha) In turn, rha has consolidated powers held by local boards. Consolidated some of powers that were distributed across various hc providers. Each canadian p/t present a unique case study in the implementation of regionalization, reflecting the uniqueness of each province"s or territory"s peoples, geographies, circumstances and political environment- they have got unique results. Regionalization is implemented in most provinces through rha. Regionalization has evolved - evolution of the number of regions in a province. Eg alberta from 17 rha to 5 zones - manitoba from12 rha to 5 rha: non-regionalized system. Mohlc- responsible for funding, decision making of thousands of healthcare providers in a province.
