Document Summary

There is an incident with a group of white girls. They get off and complain, so the train conductor rings ahead to the next stop, scottsboro, alabama, to get the police ready. At this top, two other white females (ruby price and veronica bates) accuse these teenagers of rape. The only evidence is the fact that three testify against the other six (because of the use of torture), and of course the two girls testify as such, too. There is a strong descent in the appeal. The nine teenagers were denied a confident counsel who would work on their behalf. Such denied infringes the due process clause of the 14th amendment. The accused were not asked at the beginning if they did or didn"t have counsel. No efforts were made to consider their families and their roles, since they were not from alabama. The accused should have the right to acquire counsel of their choice.
