Friday november 4, 2016: lynching: to put to death, especially by hanging, by mob action and without legal. In the deep south states of georgia louisiana and mississippi, there was a connection between the black population and lynching. In good economic times when price for cotton was high there was less lynching; opposite was also true. Factors in decline of violence: economics: mass migration of african americans out of the south. This deprived land owners of cheap workforce. Poor black farmers no longer has to be cotton formers because they could find. In 1900s 87% lived in rural areas in 1930s only 70% better and more decent paying and stable work in the city: social conditions must improve if south hopes to retain this valuable labour. This violence was aimed at keeping he black population under white control. Immigration was cut off to america through they 1920s.
