They lead a campaign that was important in the ending of slavery, but this only ended the slave trade in the british colonies not the british empire, some colonies are the islands, canada. The first country to abolish the slave trade was haiti, they did that after the revolution movement, they were able to establish the independence of haiti. They did so by overthrowing the french government control over the country of haiti in 1804.
