Most of the fighting in europe during ww1 occurred here. Main allied attack on the western front during 1916. Royal flying corps founded by great britain, by 1918 it was the world"s largest air force with 22,000 aircraft and 291,000 personnel. England"s secretary for war and air in 1918 to 1921 after ww1 trenches. Used in battles during ww1; men dug the trenches and fought from them. Secretary of war for england duing ww1; they encouraged men to sign up with their friends and they would be kept together in the army. Interesting moment for immigration, show that it is up for grabs about what it means to be irish. James kay writes about the humanitarian hardships of industrialization. 3/4 of the workers are women and children. Opposed catholic emancipation, which will divide the party. Liberal party: emphasis on free trade, gradual political reform, religious plurality. Purpose to get rid of the legal bars that allow for disenfranchisement to catholics.
