Nb: errata in the modules, the date for the book of sports is 1633, not 1631. Arminianism (ani-calvinists): over the course of his reign, he also ofered posings to moderate. Puritans and to an emerging group of ani-calvinists who were challenging the theology of predesinaion. These ani-calvinists were greatly inluenced by the teachings of the dutch theologian, Arminius, who lived from 15601609, claimed that god had predesined the elect but that did not mean that others did not have the opportunity to make it into heaven. If one truly believed and one repented their sins then christ would exercise his power to save that soul. It was this act of free will, when a believer gave themselves over and repented and believed that difered signiicantly from the strict calvinist view of predesinaion. Archbishop william laud: the most important igure in the rise of the ani-calvinists was william laud.
