Introduction of pay for jury service; large increase in number of (paid) magistrates. It"s evident that it is large enough to have standing room for about 6000 people. Total number of athenian citizens during the classical era fluxates 30,000 is the average figure. Classical athens and all greek city states basically said that father and mother must be athenian to be a citizens. Non-athenian can get citizenship if the assembly allows them. Men were allowed to be involved in politics, not women could participate. After decrees were passed by the assembly it was set in stone pillars in public areas to be easily accessed. If decrees of the assembly didn"t agree with the law, they could be challenged and changed by the courts (4th century): 2) council: 500 councillors chosen from demes, prepared business for the assembly. People were selected to serve only 1 year terms.
