His view was to keep france contained and separated from the rest of europe. Wanted to create a balance of power in europe. Try to be in a group of three . English and german interests weren"t at odds but quite similar. 1873 three emperors league ( germany, austria- hungary ,russia) 1879 dual alliance with austria - hungary. 1882 triple alliance formed when italy joins ( italy doesn"t last very long with the sudden fear of war) Young , ambitious , wants to rule power all on his own. Did not have the same approach to foreign policy as bismarck. Beginning point for germans stature on a big scale (global) German need to find its place in the sun (colonial expansion) Germany started trading in cameroon , issues with britain ( africa)
