The last two years : world war i. November - decided to join the war ottoman empire. The ottoman thought that if they came in with germany they would be able to save their crumbling empire. Ottoman empire was unprepared for the scale of the war. Failed to inspire to a revolution in egypt. Kut el amara - british troops and indian troops went to baghdad. Unable to train their guns on istanbul. It created issues in the middle east. The battle of kut el amara was a siege as the ottoman troops came down on them. Battle of gaza - the miserable conditions of the war. British broke through gaza and entered jerusalem. Reacting the crusades of the 11th and 12th century. British conquest of iraq, control palestine, syria, lebanon, mosul. The french had ties to the middle east and used some of the palestines but did not give them what the deserved.
