Us should not be supporting south vietnam in their war with north vietnam. There were more and more young men from the us getting drafted. Anti-war protest spread through a period of nuclear buildup. Arms race between the soviet union and the us. The environmental movement emerged in the 1960s with a greater awareness of pesticides and the consequences of nuclear waste on the planet. Pollution: that was a new word in the 1960s and 1970s. The civil rights movement was in full force: movement that aimed to dismantle racism, protested racial discrimination, and called for the racial desegregation in education. Unequal education system in the us: poorer funding of black schools compared to white schools.
