Human geography: space often exercises power and as a weapon. Is done through the law: clothing is a way to identify and a form of territorialization. St. louis, missouri: the gateway to the west, symbol of racial divide. Jim crowlaw maintains segregation in public spaces: perpetuate a racial hierarchy, public spaces were policed by regular people through behaviour. Justi es all wrongdoings against blacks: rosa parks: bus boycott, blacks stop riding bus for a year, ruby ridges: rst black child to go to an all white school. The law supports integration but regular people enforce segregation: white ight: as cities get more mixed, white move out. 2/3 of ferguson population is black, 3 black police o cers, shot an unarmed black teen, michael brown: aggressive policing of black community.
